about
rust is considered the new black at Funky Junk! |
"The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that men may become robots." [Erich Fromm, The Sane Society]
Funky Junk is a large, 3D immersive virtual artwork that requires exploration to discover all it contains. Thanks to LEA's Land Grant program, Carmsie Melodie and others have had tons of fun in Second Life creating its strange landscape, unique (talking) inhabitants and a tailored, industrial music stream. |
FUNKY JUNK
Funky Junk is a whimsical, post apocalyptic mini-world where trash, waste, bent and broken stuff are truly treasured.
Everything at Funky Junk is made of, or contains, remnant 'artyfacts' from the human species that once lived there. It's a community. The strange beings that now reside at Funky Junk have come up with some ingenious methods of farming and manufacturing goods, not to mention a haphazard approach to building and construction. It's interactive so enable sounds and music, click stuff and don't forget to explore under water too! |
LEA
The Linden Endowment of the Arts (LEA) is an official Linden Community Partnership program. Its purpose is to help new artists, cultivate art in SL, and foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration within the virtual art community.
The LEA Land Grant program coordinates 20 regions, generously donated by Linden Lab.
These full sims (with 15k of primmage!) are made available to in-world artists, like Carmsie and the Funky Junk team, through an application process. Selected artists' residencies are for 5-6 months. |
